This one was pretty epic. Cake for 135+ people, plus a separate one to deal with dietary restrictions, in blue and white and silver, with a graduation topper. I knew it was going to be about a 16 hr cake, since that’s how long comparable wedding cakes have taken, but did this mean I managed my time well? UH, NO. I spent 90% of the Sunday before it was due ignoring it, and then had to pull a near-all-nighter on Monday night to get it done in time – and I STILL had to race home after work on Tuesday with only an hour to make a new batch of buttercream (takes 30 mins), split and fill and decorate the dietary restrictions cake, and load everything into the car.
It all turned out okay in the end, but MAN. The last two weeks have been ridiculous, and I really didn’t need to start them by going to be on Monday at 430am (which is actually Tuesday but so whatever).
