Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!
Another cake order this week, this time for a Harry Potter birthday cake. They requested the ‘assorted items’ look, so that’s what we went with.
I wasn’t planning to add in the invisibility cloak, but I went to put the hat and wand on the cake, and it was brown-on-brown and that was terrible. So I was like, What can I add to give this a bit of contrast that is also going to be fast to make (because I way, way underquoted this cake, so I didn’t want to add anything super fiddly or time-consuming)?
Bam. Invisibility cloak. Nice, deep blue, good contrast, easy and quick to make (I literally just painted some rolled out fondant blue, sprinkled on the silvery confetti while it was still wet and stuck it on, then folded it up roughly to look like fabric and painted any bits of the underside that were showing).
I think it turned out pretty well, considering I’m not super experienced with fondant modelling 🙂
And now, what have you made this week? Don’t forget to tag your contribution, or even better, leave a link in the comments!! I love seeing what inspiring things other people have made 🙂 🙂 🙂
