It’s A Cover Reveal, and She Is GORGEOUS

Urgh, you GUYS. Please imagine, like, an entire page full of hearty-eyes emojis right here, because on Friday last week, I got the cover for my next book back from the designer, and OMG SHE IS STUNNING. Here. No further preamble required:

Mint Grows Even In The Dark by Aurealis award-winning author Amy Laurens, a cover with a dark soil background and a large bouquet of pomegranates, a deep red rose, a pinky dahlia and small purple flowers with sprigs of mint underneath the white title, which is in a thin sans serif font.

This GORGEOUS cover is for my next novella, coming out March 31, 2025. It’s inspired by the Hades and Persephone myth (not that I knew that when I started writing it!) and actually comes from a dream I had! If you read the book, you’ll see a scene where the main character, Claire, is drinking tea in her kitchen, and then another one where she leaves the house via the yellow front door, slamming it behind her after letting her housemate know that she’s not taking her phone. Those two snippets are taken directly from a dream I had, though in the dream the character I was* had a giant sheaf of mint all bundled up in her skirt as she left the house 😀 Claire doesn’t have mint hidden in her skirts, but mint does definitely feature in the book – as you might expect based on the title 😀

* I frequently dream from the perspective of people who are very clearly Not Me – different body shapes, hair colours, even different genders sometimes as with Curses With Benefits, which came from a dream I had around the same time as the dream that inspired Mint Grows Even In The Dark!

Here’s the official blurb:

Claire knows where to find the people reported as ‘missing under suspicious circumstances’. Unfortunately, telling the authorities means Claire risks taking the blame for the disappearances. Infuriating.

Instead, if Claire wants to see justice in the world, her future-telling tea speaks (metaphorically) crystal clear: Claire must rescue the people from the mysterious, other-worldly cave at the end of the street herself.

Of course, she never factored an other-worldly job offer into the equation…

A modern-day twist on Hades and Persephone, in a world where belief controls the outcome of… everything. For readers who love a no-nonsense protagonist doing what needs to be done.
