Friday Favs

Trying to bring this gratitude practice back into my online work, as well as just my online journalling ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s what I’m loving this week:

  • My new kettle, which has temperature controls so you can set it right for green tea and so forth
  • My Instagram feed, which, with the help of the darling Jacqui at White Deer Graphic Design, now looks so so so so pretty
  • My garlic is sprouting! Even the bulbs I planted only a couple of weeks ago already have green tips peeking through the mulch and lengthening daily ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Our magpies, one of whom was born around here last year and has absolutely zero fear of us – she warbles at the back glass slider when she wants a snack (and is very restrained, usually only asking on particularly rainy days) and will hang out when we’re gardening, checking out any soil we’ve just turned in case there are tasty snacks there for her. Delightful.
  • While I still miss a whole bunch of things about teaching, I am so grateful at this winter solsticey time of year to NOT have to walk between classrooms in the freezing cold. Amazing how much warmer I can stay all day when I’m not having to freeze and thaw, freeze and thaw, freeze and thaw! ๐Ÿ˜€
  • My mandarins on the trees are nearly ripe! Last year we were eating them in mid May, but we moved them (they’re in pots) into a much shadier spot this year and it looks like it’s delayed their ripening – but no worries, there are still SO many of them and I am intensely anticipating eating them in the next week or so. Yay!

I think that’s it for today. Let me know something you’re grateful for and/or enjoying this week! <3
