A quick writing update seems in order. The good news: I’ve hit the 50k mark on Define Good!
The, uh, other news? Yeah I’m still not convinced I’m halfway, and neither is my alpha reader (the person whose job it is to just cheer wildly as I complete each chapter, basically, so I have some accountability and motivation to Keep Going).
Which, I mean, I guess this is good news in the long run because you get a longer book, but can we all pause and AH HA HA laugh wildly for a bit because Define Good was supposed to be a book #1.5 NOVELLA that came between books 1 and 2. o.O You guys. How did I even underestimate this so wildly. #oops.
And the bad news, I guess, to go with the good and the other, is that I’m falling flat on the novel right now. I think it’s a mix of partly not knowing where it’s going and partly feeling a little bored with it? I realised today something that needs to happen in the current chapter and that’s helped, so hopefully I’ll get back into it soon, but for now I’m just trying to go with the flow and have patience that the writing brain will return.
In the meantime, I’ve learned that apparently I process things effectively via poetry? So yeah, there’s been lots of poetry writing going on, so at least there’s words happening on something 🙂
