Made-It Monday: Dinosaur Party Boxes

Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!

A few weeks back, a family member had a Significant Birthday, but most of Australia was in lockdown. So I organised a distance party! Another family member gathered addresses, another ran tech support ensuring that everyone had zoom installed and knew how to use it, and I made up gift boxes to post out to all the participants.

In it were snacks, games, and decorations so we could all jump on to zoom together and feel like we were still sharing the same party 🙂 I ran some games like dinosaur bingo and a scavenger hunt, and who could draw the best dinosaur on a paper plate while it was on their head. We chatted, ate snacks, and generally had fun, and it went really, really well. Hurrah!

Here are the boxes I made up, including the bingo and scavenger hunt cards that I drew the illustrations for (hence the real Made-It Mondayness of the post).

The boxes contained:

  • A party hat for each person
  • A themed paper plate, cup & napkin for each person
  • A reusable straw in the dinosaur theme
  • A dinosaur box of dinosaur lollies for each person
  • A dinosaur fondant-covered sugar cookie
  • An individual packet of chips each
  • A chocolate-hazelnut bliss ball each
  • A bag of microwave popcorn for each pair of people
  • Markers + a blank paper plate for games
  • A bingo sheet per person
  • A scavenger hunt item card per person
  • A blank card with a stamped, addressed envelope (to send a birthday message to the birthday person!)
