Semi-dodgy video again, but we’ll get there. One day I’ll learn to move more slowly so as not to make you all seasick, and to take a decent shot for the thumbnail :’D
Anyway. Things have grown a lot since last time, which is happy to see. We lost a tomato plant, which is sad but reasonably inevitable since I’m not doing any pest control at all, and I’m not babying the plants enough considering the soil + position they’re in. On reflection, I’m not surprised that the tomatoes that have survived are these ones, because this is the spot in the bed that gets the most sun.
The corner where the chives and lettuces are gets Not Very Much At All, and it’s been damp there lately, which means lots of flying bugs and MOSQUITOS URGH OMG, so yeah. Slow growth in that corner isn’t surprising. Etc etc. It’s a very unideal yard for veggies, really, but that’s okay. We’re doing what we can 🙂 And the silverbeet pot is going great guns, and some of the fruit trees are happy too – we might actually even get edible apples this year, woohoo.
So. Without further ado, le vid. Hurrah.
Internet research suggests I have leaf miners in my herbs/lettuce? And there isn’t really a treatment except pick off the affected leaves, which right now is most of each of those plants. So… at this point I’ll just wait until leaf miner season is over, I guess? And feed the plants to make sure they’re strong and can fight off infection. And protect the tomatoes so it doesn’t start affecting them too. This is all very much a learning experience, since a) I’m not exactly an experienced gardener and b) this is the most complex my gardening has ever been because of the less-than-ideal aspect of the garden.
Anyway. It’s green and growing and makes me happy and is likely good for my health, so you know. Yay! Garden!
