Okay, so, not going to make the 10 stories in 20 days. That’s okay. I ended up taking like 6 of the 20 days off writing, so that’s hardly surprising, really š And I learned some very important things:
- I totally COULD have completed 10 short stories in 20 days. But for me, it would have meant being on the computer most of each day, and ignoring the kids while they were home on holidays. I decided, in the end, that I wasn’t prepared to do that. I’m happy with that call š
- I can write short stories a LOT faster than I thought I could. Phew. Mostly it took me two days to complete a story (they were mostly between 4000 and 6000 words), though I did write a shorter one (2300 words) in a single day, which was cool.
- I’m getting a lot better at short story writing – which, you’d hope, because that’s kind of the point of practise, right? š
- I can actually write a lot faster with the new workflow I’m practising, which is super duper exciting.
- I’m still going to end the month with 7 short stories I didn’t have before, and I count that as a total win!
Not sure yet, but I’ll probably just run with the 7 stories for the April Showers collection; it’s still something like 33,000 words or about 150 pages, so it’s a decent length. We’ll see what happens for the rest of this week – maybe I can get one more done.
