Oops. Didn’t realised I hadn’t blogged basically all of last week. The last two weeks have been a bit of a mess, sorry, emotionally and mentally speaking. Anyway. They’re gone, they’re over, and now we’re moving on 🙂
So, the print version of How To Create Cultures is finally out now too, since the actual *original* release date of January 17 has passed 🙂 However, due to website glitchiness, I’ve been unable to upload the final-final version that corrects a couple of spelling mistakes – so if you’ve already ordered the print copy, you might be able to spot one or two typos/formatting inconsistencies there 😉 (The proper final-final version should be available by the end of the week.)Â
Otherwise, things have been busy around here as usual. It’s the 20th and I’ve had six days both within internet range and at my house so far this year, and I set deadlines expecting to have a LOT more, so it’s been triage after triage as I try to figure out which bits absolutely *have* to be done before I go back to work for the school year after summer holidays (that’ll be today, gnurgh).
J.C. Nelson’s amazing contemporary Hollywood romance Stand-In Hearts is coming out in a little over two weeks (eep), so I’ve been hard at work finalising edits, formatting and proofing etc to get that ready in time. The ebook preorder is already out, so if you’re in the mood for a witty, genuine contemporary love story from a male POV, with tropes like office romance and being tricked by coworkers into spending the holidays together and characters who’ve been burned before and given up on love getting another chance at finding The One, give Stand-In Hearts a try 🙂Â
More Inklets are also in production (you’ll see some sneak previews of the illustrations in a future Made-It Monday), with #1 Another Kind of Hunger and #2 Off The Rack already out and available (though not at Amazon yet due to iss-ues #urgh).Â
Another Kind of Hunger is some backstory for my Sanctuary novels, a short story from Scott’s point of view.Â
Off The Rack is by Liana Brooks, and is a light-hearted little designer-human story with a revenge-lite relationship twist.Â
Look out for #3 The Kitten Psychologist on the 1st of next month: the Kitten Psychologist stories are delightful, quirky tales by Thea van Diepen about a human psychologist who inadvertently becomes psychologist to their friends’ kitten, and the hijinks that ensure. There are six in total, and they’ll be out every three Inklets (#3, #6, #9 etc).Â
What else?
Mmm, lots of prep for impending birthday parties and scheduling and cakes (I have four cakes booked between now and the end of March, which is 4 in 10 weeks, which is rather a lot for me o.O) and I discovered (scarily) on the weekend that my weekends are already completely booked between now and May??? Um, okay???????? >.<).
At some point, I might also talk about depression and burnout and exhaustion and things, but that is less interesting to mull over tbh and although I’m mentioning it now because yet again recently I had well-meaning friends and family introduce me to a new person and be like AND SHE DOES THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS, AND SHE’S AMAZING, I do need to remind everyone that wow, not superwoman, and that the ridiculous pace of my life comes at a cost (e.g. monthly mini-breakdowns about being overwhelmed, losing the first week of this year to post-event depression, etc etc), I’m feeling better this week so don’t really want to spend time describing it in detail?
I mean, it’s the weekend as I’m writing this, so by the time it posts I might not be feeling better at all, because see aforementioned recommencement of work, but still. You know. Positivity or optimism or something.
…I have no non-ramble way to end this, so Imma just sign off and say read a good book this week, go to bed on time, eat as healthily as you can, and hug/spent time with your loved ones.
See you tomorrow. Mwah.
