Sticking to my commitment here of getting back to week-daily blogging. Ermagersh. Today has been a slog of marking, marking, and just for a change, some more marking. But the lovely twinny one has been keeping me sane: we did a voice-only Skype chat to keep each other company, and she set 10-minutely timers. I had to mark a paper (or as much as I could), and she had to edit pages in ten minute blocks.
We went for about three hours, and I got half a class set of essays marked plus, in a fit of pique when I just couldn’t bear to look at another essay ever again, a couple of illustrations – one for the upcoming How To Create Cultures, and one for the very first Inklet – which, btw, is the bonus Sanctuary short story that comes in The Complete Sanctuary Series. The illustration, naturally, is a slice of pizza with a mosquito. It makes sense in context, I promise 😀 😀
Also, IDK, I’m feeling kind of sharey this week, and I’m desperate for something exciting today to break up the monotony of marking (I have 97 papers, which is a little over 24 hours straight, to complete by next Monday, URGH – okay okay wait I’ve done nearly 20 so far today, which is EPIC since I usually struggle to do more than 8 a night) SO I kind of feel like sharing the cover with you for my next novel?
I know I just shared the cover for How To Create Cultures, and also the Inklets, AND the prettiness for Liana’s The Polar Terror (coming this Friday!), BUT. PRETTY COVERS. So much more exciting than marking.
So…. uh, here she is, I guess :3 Everyone, please say hello to Mercury, a character who is extremely dear to my heart, and who was the first character I ever completed a full novel for :3 <3 <3 (That novel will never see publication, because First Novel, but still. MERCURY. *loves*) Oh, I guess I should note that this is the book that’s been abbreviated as #HNOT all around the place, and it comes out in March next year. If you’ve been following along, you’ll have been seeing snippets earlier in the year – and you can catch a bunch of excerpts and the first chapter in draft form over on Patreon! 🙂
