A recent post from Liana prompted me to sit down and figure it out. I work full time, run Creative Writing Club, meet weekly for the school Antipodeans trip to Laos, have lunch and recess duties, clean a house, cook home-cooked meals more nights than not, have a 1-year-old child whom I am still breastfeeding, am writing a novel (in theory), attend church and the gym once a week, host bible study twice a month, mentor three students one-on-one with writing at school, read an average of .8 of a book a week to keep uptodate for school and writing, watch the Lizzie Bennet Diaries (and not much else), am taking two online uni course (though am only keeping up with one)… Oi.
So, per week, on average:
Actual, physical, in-the-classroom teaching time: 23 hours
Duties and supervisions etc: 2.5
Creative writing club: .75
Official student mentoring: .5
Church: 2.5
Antipodeans meetings (for school trip to Laos in July): .75
Cooking/preparing food/eating: 12
Feeding/bathing/cleaning 1-yr-old: 8
Sleep: 49 (insufficient.)
Showering/bathroom/getting dressed/brushing hair/looking like an adult: 11.75
Bible study: 2
Garden care: 3
Household chores: let’s say 6, optimistically.
Travel: 9 if we just do work and church, and don’t go anywhere else.
Time I am required to be at work but not in class: 13.5
Gym: 1.75
Paying bills, making house-business phone calls, etc: 1
Entertaining kid but not feeding/cleaning: 9 on a good week where he is not sick and is feeling independent
Dog stuff: 1 (also insufficient; poor beastie needs more walks)
Extra time I ACTUALLY spend at school, doing lesson prep and marking: 5
…And we are down to 6 hours a week remaining. During which I watch Lizzie Bennet Diaries, read .8 books per week, and write a novel. >.< And then wonder why I am tired.
